Sometimes in life, you get what you ask for. And that’s when things feel really sweet.
Thanks to everyone who requested publicly for 21.5.800 to continue.
Here’s the deal: June 28th marks the official end of 21.5.800 The next day, June 29th, will start the extension period.
We will still use the #215800 hashtag because even though we are going to be 31.5.800, it’s fun not to make sense sometimes and not follow the rules.
So. Here’s what all five hundred something of you can do:
You can stop at the 21 days.
You can renew yourself and go further.
You can reach out to a new participant every day and say, “Hi, I don’t usually do this, but I like your blog and your comments and wanted to connect.”
You can try a public yoga class, or switch to savasana.
You could write a letter to what is making you sad.
You can tell all the people still asking to join that they can jump on for a 10 day 21.5.800
You can end the 21 days and begin the 10 days.
You can do whatever you want.
Today was a magical day for me. I had the most extraordinary experiences being out in the world. This 21.5.800 project has changed me in permanent ways. I’m not exaggerating. I am scared and exhilarated about what’s coming up for me.
One of the things that happened today was that I went to visit my new friend Matthew Stillman. Click here to see the super cool way he is living his daily life right now: http://stillmansays.blogspot.com/ He’s on Twitter as @stillmansays.
We were talking about 21.5.800 and I said I had to get on the subway so I could go post this. He asked what I was going to write about and I told him about the extension and that I wanted to write about UNFOLDING, because that’s what seems to be happening for a lot of participants and mos def for myself.
He paused and thought. Then started to tell me about his brother who is an origami master. He has studied under a Zen origami master and he told me about how important the preparatory folds of the paper are.
He said that the teacher says to the students, “Breathe life into the paper.”
I got goosebumps when he was telling me about the preparatory folds and to breathing life into the paper.
I think that’s what’s happening here at 21.5.800
We are unloading what has been cooped up in our minds, hearts and bodies for who knows how long and freeing up a BUNCH of energy. The quality of the energy is luminous and clean and exciting. And it can also be initially dark. If that’s the case, stick with it okay? Keep going. Write and yoga your way to the other side.
Each writing and yoga gesture, each risk to tell my truth out loud, to feel new scary things, to go toward my power, and toward who I really am, is like a paper origami crane that I am making.
There is no forcing the crane. Instead I am focused on the preparatory folds and breathing life into the paper of my life.
Think about it– join us in another 10 days? You can take a fresh start if you’ve blown it, or you can go deeper if you’ve stayed the course. And you can still access our exclusive Yoga for Writers video, created by Marianne Elliott just for 21.5.800 participants.
An excerpt from Mary Oliver (one of my favorites):
“But I also say this: that light
is an invitation
to happiness,
and that happiness,
when it’s done right,
is a kind of holiness,
palpable and redemptive.”

Lovely. Especially the crane story Bindu. Thanks for extending 21.5.800 and holding the space for all of this creative energy. I also am feeling shifts, particularly this third week as the fear whooses away and more calm and intriguing writing takes its place. You’re a gem.
You can also still get the Yoga for Writers video here: http://binduwiles.com/yoga-for-writers/

I have to say in all honesty that I’ve only done the yoga a few times. The writing, however, has been more consistent, telling and transformative. I’ve learned what I found scribbled on a piece of paper today while sorting through a giant stack of papers…
“I get discouraged and scared and disconnected when I don’t write. I am uninspired, unmotivated and unconvinced of my mission. I must write. Everyday, I must write.”
This couldn’t be more true. Your little “experiment” has brought this home for me more than ever. I’ve renamed it “Forever800″. Note that all yoga references have been removed, maybe someday…
Thank you.
Only ten? I like Andrea’s “Forever.” I’m thinking of ForeverYoga800. But, I’ll still use the #215800 because that’s how we all found each other.
This makes me very, very happy. More “middle” to love! It’s like the double-stuff oreo of words.
And Stillmansays is BRILLIANT. I’ve been mulling his project over for days. This project has such a feminine energy that I feel should pay a little more attention to the boys. They’ve got great stuff too

Brilliant! I embrace the extension whole-heartedly, in the most literal and transformative sense of that term. I love this challenge, though I am far from perfect in my participation. Letting that be okay is part of the transformation for me.
So thrilled for you that so much is unfolding and blossoming for you!

My thanks for another 1o days!
Okay, I’ve never even tried yoga, but all this talk about #215800 has me wondering what I’m missing. The writing thing I am totally into. I do it anyway. I have to – it keeps me sane (sort of). But thank you for making me think. And maybe for encouraging me to try something new.
