In the current cultural trance of Eat, Pray, Love Gag — I am thinking of the prophetic truth of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s book, Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism
And so in that spirit, I offer this brilliance from Arj Barker. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Have you seen this movie review? Made me laugh. Thought you’d enjoy it, too.

Hilarious! And in its own way hitting the mark quite well.
Thank you, Sunada, for sharing the movie review – excellent.

As a former, long time resident of a traditional Hindu monastery, I remember a time (not that long ago) when non-Judeo-Christian religions were looked upon with a great deal of suspicion, and practitioners were catagorically accused of being cultists.
So it was with a great amount of JOY that I watched Eat Pray Love. It made me want to dance in the streets, actually, because it signaled a more tolerant attitude in society. The irony, of course, is the intolerance now shown towards its author for exposing her flawed, materially-attached self to the world.
At least she tried, I say. God bless her for that.

I’m in the minority in my circle of friends in that I really enjoyed Eat, Pray, Love – which probably tells you more than you wanted to know about my romantic, earnest tendencies.
On the other hand, I LOVE Arj Barker and this video made my day. I’ll be sending it to all my favorite mala-bead wearing Buddhist gangstas.
PS: I think the quality of the supporting cast in “The Flight of the Conchords” is a sign of just how smart my homeboys Bret and Jemaine really are.

Love, love, love that video!! Loved the film review as well (and Arj Barker). Marianne, reading that you liked ELP is making me smile. I won’t think badly of you for it! Given that I haven’t read the book or seen the movie I guess I’m in no position to judge. Maybe I’d find myself caving to my sappier side. It’s been a while since I’ve given myself permission to indulge in a good bout of sappiness. It might be healthy for me!

I have to say that I really got a huge amount out of Eat Pray Love when I read it, I think mainly because I was going through a huge upheaval myself at the time (including leaving my fiance), so the themes of realising that things aren’t right and needing to get away and find yourself again resonated ENORMOUSLY with me.
BUT, I do also understand the critique of “priv-lit”, and the idea of the luxury of angst.
All I can say is that it held a lot of meaning for me at the time, even to the point of helping me to reconcile and be at some peace with what was happening. But I really don’t want to see the movie.
Oh, and Arj Barker is da BOMB! I love that video enormously

Eat Pray Gag! lol Right on point!
I went to watch EPL for my birthday this past Tuesday and thought of Danielle LaPorte’s latest post ->http://whitehottruth.com/inspiration-spirituality-articles/your-permission-slip-from-the-universe/
when she said, You have permission to walk out of movies that suck.
EPL was torture for me. I went in without any expectations, but felt empty, flat-lining as I sat there waiting for something to move me. My climax never came. I would’ve walked out, but as the birthday girl with a small entourage alongside me, that would’ve been a tough one to explain. I guess I could have said I spent the rest of the time gagging in the bathroom, huh?
Anyway, enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing and I’m totally gearing up for The Shed Adventure!
