i want to walk away

from it all
and journey
to the water’s edge:

lose
my
self………

ask the green depths
to embrace me;
surround my body
like i am its lover.

i want to lay my head
on soft earth.
breathe
in
and out:

slower…
and deeper…

until my heartbeat
quiets to
a gentle hum
that only
the birds and
trees can hear.

i want to know
the truth
of my life:

the sacred parts
that harbour grief;

the gentle parts
that offer forgiveness;

the vast oceans
of roaring emptiness;

the sigh of my soft voice
yearning to be understood

That poem is breathtaking.
Thank you.

Leonie’s poems are the essence of The Shed Project – life in all it’s messiness, but pared back to absolute truth. Lisa’s photographs, well they remind me that as I shed I must keep that which is so beautiful it helps me love more fully, more bravely.
