How To Be A Buddhist In Your Online Business

by Bindu Wiles on August 16, 2010

1. Don’t sell snake oil or hot air.

2. Resist slick marketing that is really sleight-of-hand.

3. Become deeper.

4. Strip down instead of covering up.

5. Get off the self-improvement train– stop selling it, buying into it, and pedaling it to others.

6. Be genuine.

7. Surround yourself with a couple high-quality people who will tell you the truth about when you are bullshitting.

8. Understand emptiness.

9. Live simply.

10. Resist the addiction of confirmation.

11. Create a paradigm for making money where you aren’t striving, copying, or cut-throat competitive.

12. Take each weekend off from email, twitter, facebook, the cell phone, your calendar, and give candlelight a try or go to bed when it’s dark out.

13. Wander aimlessly regularly.

14. Let go easily.

15. Trust your intuition doubtlessly.

#10. Resist the addiction of confirmation.
#15. Trust your intuition doubtlessly.

That’s right where I am right now – digging deep and doing the work, over and over.

Great list Bindu.

Ooh, yes yes Bindu. Especially the unplugging on the weekend part. All part of letting go and so important. So much of what you list feels like the release – the falling backwards into trusting that we know the way – this is my particular focus at the moment and I’ve loving the letting go especially…thank you.

Resist slick snake air
Get deeper; naked. Walk simply.
Create space. Let. Go.

How does one resist slick marketing, that is really sleight-of-hand?
I can find myself very easily seduced by internet offerings of miracles to radically change your life for the right amount of money.

Get off the self-improvement train; what a relief that is! So many people that I respect are peddling it to others with a vengeance. What does that mean? I am interested in your thoughts.

Bindu, I agree with all of these, but the one that resonates the most with me is getting off the self-improvement train. Gawd, how true! I am sick to death to come across books that promise happiness/thinness/wealth/fill-in-the-blank and supposed gurus who do exactly the same (before they write the book or after, in order to promote it). How about I, we, are just fine the way we are? Now that’s some ground-breaking concept!

I bow to this. Nectar.

I am also interested in hearing your thoughts about the self improvement train. What does that mean to you? I am sharing my journey and trying to help others learn from my experiences. Now I’m wondering if that classifies me as being on the self improvement train!
