This week between Christmas and New Years, is for me, one of reflection, intention and power.
I am deliriously happy to see 2011 go.
For the first time in about 5+ years, I feel unencumbered by the misalignments of relationships that I have played out over and over again in my life.
I’m done convincing anyone of anything. I’m done with the ostriches and the chickens.
Maybe it’s nearing 50 years old. As they say, age is it’s own reward, and I really do feel that.
I have lived through so much and I have chosen over and over again to allow it to deepen me and soften me.
The other thing I have chosen over and over again in my life, is to keep being creative. It’s so easy to let life, laziness, complacency, comfort zone, money/survival obsession, busyness, blah blah blah, keep you from expressing yourself creatively.
It’s always the first thing that goes out the window. And there is a price for that– grumpiness, weight gain, not expressing oneself, not fullfilling your dreams, flatline emotions, regret, depression, shallowness, a dislocation from yourself…..the list goes on and on.
Everyone is creative. Period. Everyone needs an outlet on a regular basis to varying degrees.
I wanted to invite you to start off 2012 with an investment into your creativity. It’s really the foundation of everything else in your life.
I’m running The Photo Essay Project again starting Jan 16th for 5 weeks. It’s a great way to start of 2012–creatively and within community.
Why not consider giving yourself this gift to set the tone for yourself for the year?
Or maybe you know someone who you could gift this too who really needs an act of generosity.
You can find out all the details by clicking the badge over in my sidebar for details and the week by week description.
And don’t worry, ANYONE can do the course no matter your skill level. The point is just to engage and commit creatively.
Do something for yourself to start off 2012 by putting your creative foot forward.
You will be amazed at how it will seep into other areas of your life.
Lets start 2012 together making things and expressing ourselves through photography.
