Photography and The Plague of Identities

by Bindu Wiles on December 29, 2011

Here’s a small slice of video of Roshi Joan Halifax and Jonas Elrod from his film Wake Up discussing who we really are ( the video is at the bottom of the post).

In The Photo Essay Project Level 2, we will spend 4 weeks photographing:

+ those we know and love,

+ ourselves,

+ strangers.

Through portrait photography, and through light and shadow, which defines black and white photography, we will have the opportunity to penetrate appearances to try and bring out what is underneath this mantle, or plague, as Roshi refers to it, of identity.

We will endeveor to both reveal identity as well as get underneath it to reveal who we really are and who others are and who those we love are.

What are our beliefs about ourselves, those we think we know and love, as well as strangers?

Will you join us on this powerful journey of captured images of the human condition?

Why not start off 2012 creating and expressing the heart of the matter?

We start Jan. 16th so reserve your spot now!

Enjoy the video of Roshi.
